Your BMI
Healthy weight
Your BMI falls within the general adult healthy-weight range. BMI alone does not provide a complete picture of health.
BMI formula: BMI = weight (kg) ÷ height² (m²). For imperial measurements, BMI = 703 × weight (lb) ÷ height² (inches).
BMI is a general screening measure and does not directly measure body fat or diagnose an individual's health. Factors such as age, muscle mass and overall health can affect how BMI should be interpreted.

Body Mass Index, commonly called BMI, is calculated using a person's weight and height. With metric measurements, weight in kilograms is divided by height in meters squared. For example, if someone weighs 70 kg and is 1.70 m tall, the calculation is 70 ÷ (1.70 × 1.70), which produces a BMI of approximately 24.2. For imperial measurements, weight in pounds and height in inches are used with a conversion factor of 703.
BMI = kg ÷ (m × m)
BMI = 703 × lb ÷ in²
Common questions about BMI
BMI stands for Body Mass Index. It is a calculation based on height and weight that is commonly used as a general screening measure.
For adults, a BMI from 18.5 to 24.9 is commonly categorized as healthy weight. BMI categories are general screening ranges and should not be treated as an individual diagnosis.
BMI has limitations because it does not directly measure body fat or distinguish between muscle and fat. Its interpretation can vary depending on factors such as age, muscle mass and other aspects of health.
Yes. Select the Imperial option and enter your weight in pounds and your height in feet and inches.
Adult BMI categories should not be applied directly to children and teenagers. BMI for younger people is interpreted using age- and sex-specific growth charts.
